What do you like best about writing?

The thing I like the best about writing is telling the stories. I like good characters because I feel they are what actually drives the story along, and by driving the story they engage the readers.

Craig on Craig

So what does a bestselling mystery author do on a Saturday night? Bill Craig is sitting at home with his 13 year old son as the two of them watch a good old fashioned Western staring Tom Selleck.
One thing that Bill Craig noticed over the years is that many great stories have an element of mystery in them which is what drew him into writing mysteries. In the western, the mystery might be in discovering who started the range war or is behind the plot to steal the ranch from the rancher’s widow. In adventure tales the mystery might be in a treasure map leading to a lost city or a fabulous treasure to be found by the hero. Even in romances there is a mystery behind the hero or heroine and the circumstances that bring them together. Even everyday life is full of mystery because we all want to know "What is going to happen next?" Why do we want to know that? Because it isn’t know to us, thus yet another mystery.
"Life is a journey of uncertainty. We never know what is going to happen next. This past year has been a struggle dealing with my father’s health issues as well as my own while raising a child as a single parent and parental responsibilities to my older children and my grandchildren and my great grand child. But as I journey through this great mystery of life, I still find time to focus on my characters and the mysteries in their lives."
Bill Craig has been publishing his work now for 19 years, turning out approximately 100 titles so far. He hopes to continue writing for many more years bringing enjoyment and pleasure to his many readers. He continues to work on more of Rick Marlow's cases among others. Craig is a native of New Castle, Indiana. Born and raised a Hoosier, he enjoys setting his tales in the tropics as a way of escaping the blistering cold and snows of his Hoosier homeland in the winters!
